King Frederick X of Denmark visit to SGGW

During the first foreign visit to Poland of His Majesty King Frederick X of Denmark, on 1 February 2024, the delegation of Danish entrepreneurs will pay a visit to the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW); the Main Campus and Obory-Wilanów Experimental Farm.

The SGGW campus will host an event dedicated to the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of environmentally friendly agriculture and biogas with the participation of His Majesty the King of Denmark, the Ministers of Agriculture of Poland and Denmark and representatives of Danish and Polish companies from the Agri-food, Biogas and Energy sectors.

During the meeting at the Obory experimental farm, entrepreneurs will take part in two discussion panels: Climate friendly agriculture and Biogas.

 The Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) is the oldest agricultural university in Poland. Its origins date back to 1816. The university is a vibrant academic institution, recognized nationally and internationally for excellence and quality of education and research, for fidelity to the best university traditions, openness to change, and dynamic development.

One of the important SGGW research and education centres is the SGGW Obory-Wilanów Experimental Farm. The 1,500-acre farm specializes in milk production, with a dairy cattle herd of 800 head. The annual milk production accounts for 4 million litres. The farm is a research facility for our university and Agro companies. It serves students and researchers as a venue for numerous practical classes.

 The state-of-the-art research centres, labs, and outstanding experts onsite provide the possibility to conduct sword-class research and transfer their results to the economy, influencing innovation and progress, including in agriculture, food economy, and medicine. SGGW contributes to the increasing importance of Polish science in the world.

 SGGW cooperates with companies on three levels:

  • directs its own technological solutions to companies;
  • creates and implements research and development projects within consortia with the participation of enterprises. It actively works to obtain funds for their implementation from national and European public sources;
  • provides commercial research services to companies based on the knowledge of the scientific staff and the research infrastructure.

 The Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer coordinates the University's business cooperation.
