Significant advancement in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities
Among the Polish universities, WULS-SGGW has also been very successful, taking the 13 position in Poland. This was a rise of 14 positions compared to 2011 and we still maintain a top spot among Polish agricultural and life science universities.
Such a significant change in WULS-SGGW position in this prestigious ranking is the result of actions taken for the promotion of the university on the Internet. WULS-SGGW has a multi-media, tailored to the trends home page (www.sggw.pl), the web TV (www.sggw.tv) and several departmental websites. Furthermore, the university has a profile on You Tube and social networking sites. Our university is known for its innovative solutions, which is confirmed by winning in 2011, the second time in a row, the title of „The most innovative and creative universities in Poland.”
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has been conducted by the Cybermetrics Lab since 2004. The Cybermetrics Lab is a research group belonging to the Spanish Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cienti’ficas (CSIC). The ranking, which is published twice a year, takes into account the university’s performance in the online world. The Webometrics Ranking encourages the web publications of all universities across the globe via the Open Access Initiative, which is an indicator of the university’s capability, to share academic knowledge to the world as well as to modernize their information system in a globalized world.
